Elevate your holiday spread with this easy, delicious pumpkin butter - a sweet and spicy crowd pleaser!
Ingredients:
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans pure pumpkin puree
  • 0.25 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter
Instructions:
  • Prepare all ingredients.
  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, mix together pumpkin puree, sugar, maple syrup, spices, salt, cayenne pepper, apple juice, and apple cider vinegar. Whisk until well combined. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until simmering.
  • Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and reduces by half, 45 to 60 minutes. Handle the hot sauce with caution, wearing an oven mitt while stirring. Consider using a splatter guard to keep cleanup easy on your stove.
  • After simmering until thickened, take it off the heat and allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Add the butter and whisk until fully incorporated. Let it cool to room temperature, approximately 1 1/2 hours.
  • Move the pumpkin butter into an airtight container and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight to enhance flavors. Keep refrigerated.
