Indulge in a Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned - a cozy and flavorful bourbon cocktail perfect for fall. Made with pumpkin spice sugar and caramelized syrup, it's a must-try for autumn gatherings with friends. Cheers to the season with this warm and inviting drink!
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Ice
  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon (1/2 oz) Caramelized Simple Syrup (see above)
  • 3 to 4 drops Angostura™ aromatic bitters
  • 1 orange twist
Instructions:
  • For the Caramelized Simple Syrup, in a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of water. Let it cook undisturbed for 1 to 3 minutes until the sugar caramelizes. Gently pour in the rest of the water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Let it cook for 30 to 60 seconds until the sugar dissolves. Transfer the syrup to a heatproof container, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until cold.
  • Combine 2 teaspoons of brown sugar with pumpkin pie spice in a small bowl to create Pumpkin Spice Sugar.
  • Prepare your Old Fashioned by coating the rim of a 10-oz old-fashioned glass with pumpkin spice sugar. Fill the glass with ice, then pour in bourbon, caramelized simple syrup, and bitters. Stir well and garnish with an orange twist before serving.
