Traditional German honey ginger cookies recipe passed down through generations.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a saucepan, gently melt sugar, shortening, and honey over low heat. Allow the mixture to cool.
  • Combine eggs, vanilla, baking soda, and ginger, then carefully incorporate into the cooled honey mixture. Gradually mix in the flour until well combined.
  • Spoon out teaspoonfuls of dough onto cookie sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between each one.
  • Bake until beautifully golden, about 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
