Indulge your guests with decadent caramel pecan rolls.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 3/4 cup pecan halves
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 packages regular active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2 to 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Grease a 13x9-inch pan with shortening. Combine all topping ingredients except pecans in a small bowl and mix until well blended. Spread the mixture evenly in the pan, then sprinkle pecans evenly over the top.
  • Combine whole wheat flour, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl. In a 1-quart saucepan, warm water and 1/4 cup butter until very warm (120°F to 130°F). Add the warm liquid and egg to the flour mixture; mix with an electric mixer on low speed until moistened, scraping the bowl frequently. Increase to medium speed and beat for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl regularly. Gradually mix in all-purpose flour until the dough pulls cleanly away from the side of the bowl.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3 minutes until smooth. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a 15x7-inch rectangle.
  • - Spread a luxurious layer of 2 tablespoons of butter over the dough, ensuring every inch is covered in richness. - In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of granulated sugar with aromatic cinnamon and generously sprinkle the mixture over the butter, creating a tantalizing sweetness that will infuse every bite.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the 15-inch side, ensuring the edge is sealed by pinching it. Cut the rolled dough into 12 slices and place them cut side down in the pan over the topping. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the uncovered dough for 30 to 35 minutes until beautifully golden brown. Let it cool in the pan for 1 minute. Quickly invert a heatproof serving platter or tray over the pan, then flip them both over to unmold the baked dough. Remove the pan carefully.
