Savory onion gravy with caramelized onions, broth, and red wine. Pair with mashed potatoes and bangers for a delicious meal.
Ingredients:
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 3 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken stock
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
  • Prepare all your ingredients.
  • In a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add onion and cook until soft, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Lower the heat and cover the pan. Let the onions cook slowly until they are caramelized, stirring occasionally. This should take about 20 minutes.
  • Incorporate the flour until fully combined.
  • Combine chicken stock, red wine, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a pot. Simmer until the sauce thickens, stirring often, approximately 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
