Classic British and Irish comfort dish: bangers and mash with savory onion gravy - perfect for chilly days.
Ingredients:
  • 4 links pork sausage
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 6 cups beef broth
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 200 degrees Fahrenheit (95 degrees Celsius).
  • Brown sausages in a skillet over gentle heat for 5 minutes on each side. Place in a preheated oven-safe dish to keep warm.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, boil potatoes in water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and let them dry for a minute. Mix in butter, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper; mash until smooth and fluffy. Set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook and stir onions until translucent and starting to brown, about 8 minutes. Add beef broth and red wine, bring to a boil, then simmer until reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Top the sausages with mashed potatoes and drizzle with onion gravy before serving.
