Gooey cinnamon buns with sticky pecan glaze, best enjoyed warm from the oven.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Create the dough by pouring water into a liquid measure. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and active dry yeast; stir until dissolved. Allow it to sit until foamy, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Warm milk in a small saucepan over medium heat just until it starts to bubble around the edges; avoid boiling. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, and salt until melted. Allow it to cool until lukewarm before using.
  • In a large bowl, gently whisk the eggs. Mix in the yeast mixture, lukewarm milk, and 1 1/2 cups of flour until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup at a time, ensuring thorough mixing after each addition until a cohesive dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until it becomes smooth, silky, and elastic, which should take around 8 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a bowl coated with oil, ensuring it is well covered with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • While the dough is rising, prepare the glaze by melting 3/4 cup of unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 3/4 cup brown sugar until smooth.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch pan and pour the glaze mixture into it. Sprinkle pecans on top.
  • Prepare the filling: Put 1/4 cup of melted butter in a small bowl. In another bowl, mix together 3/4 cup of brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon.
  • Once the dough has doubled in size, transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a 14x18-inch rectangle. Brush half of the melted butter onto the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border untouched. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  • Begin by rolling the dough tightly from the long edge, sealing the seams by pinching them. Brush the remaining butter over the dough, then slice it into 15 equal rolls.
  • Arrange the rolls, cut-sides down, in the luscious glaze-filled pan. Cover and allow them to rise until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake uncovered in the preheated oven until beautifully golden, for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Allow the rolls to cool in the pan for 3 minutes, then elegantly flip them onto a serving platter ensuring the glaze is on top. Make sure to gather any leftover glaze from the pan and drizzle it over the rolls for an extra burst of flavor.
