Family-favorite orange cookies dusted with confectioners' sugar for a tender treat.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1.5 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 0.5 cup confectioners' sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar in a bowl. In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy. Add orange extract, grated orange zest, and egg. Incorporate the flour mixture and blend until well combined.
  • Spoon small teaspoon-sized dough portions onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Cookies will expand to 1 1/2 inches when baked.
  • Place the cookies in the preheated oven for 10 to 14 minutes until they turn a light brown color. Sprinkle the hot cookies with the remaining confectioners' sugar, let them cool, and store in an airtight container.
