Award-Winning Date Bars: Elevate oatmeal cookie mix into decadent citrus-infused bars.
Ingredients:
  • 1 package (8 oz) chopped dates (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 3/4 cups orange juice
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Oatmeal Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously grease a 9-inch square baking pan. In a medium saucepan, mix dates and orange juice, then cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add brown sugar and simmer gently for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in pecans before setting aside.
  • Combine the cookie mix and melted butter in a large bowl until crumbly. Press 2/3 of the mixture into the pan to form the crust. Pour the date mixture over the crust and sprinkle the remaining cookie mixture on top.
  • Bake until beautifully golden, for 30 to 40 minutes. Allow to cool completely for about 2 hours, then dust lightly with powdered sugar. Cut into 5 rows by 4 rows for perfect bars. Store covered at room temperature.
