Skip the lines with these quick orange-almond cookies. Enjoy a coffee-shop experience right at home!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted and chopped
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, orange peel, and eggs, mixing vigorously until creamy. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and almonds, then shape half of the dough into a 10x3 inch rectangle on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool on the cookie sheet for 15 minutes. Slice crosswise into 1/2-inch slices, then turn the slices cut sides down on the cookie sheet.
  • Bake for approximately 15 minutes until golden and crispy. Transfer from the baking sheet to a wire rack and allow to cool completely.
