Buttery Parmesan orzo cooked in savory chicken stock, finished with fresh basil for a delicious side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
Instructions:
  • In a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter until it sizzles. Add the orzo and sauté until it turns a beautiful golden brown.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a lively boil. Cover, lower the heat, and gently simmer until the orzo is tender and has absorbed all the liquid, which should take around 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Combine the Parmesan cheese and 1/4 cup of chopped basil into the mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Serve in a shallow bowl and top with the rest of the basil for a fresh touch.
