Tender oven-baked spareribs glazed in tangy homemade BBQ sauce for maximum flavor!
Ingredients:
  • 4 pounds pork spareribs
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 2 cups water
  • 0.5 cup white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup dark brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and then carefully split the ribs down the center between the bones.
  • Combine onions, ketchup, water, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, and salt in a bowl. Reserve half of the sauce for basting.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sizzle the ribs in batches until beautifully browned, about 4 to 5 minutes per batch.
  • Divide the ribs between two baking pans, ensuring they are in a single layer. Drizzle the remaining BBQ sauce over the ribs.
  • Roast the ribs in a hot oven, rotating and brushing with sauce every 20 minutes and topping up with extra sauce if necessary, until the meat is tender and comes off the bone easily, approximately 2 hours. Use a thermometer to ensure the center reaches a minimum of 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).
