Oven-baked BBQ chicken drumsticks, perfectly basted for a flavor-packed meal anytime.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 0.25 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1.5 cups barbeque sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray's®), or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with foil.
  • Combine olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne in a large bowl. Add drumsticks and toss until evenly coated. Transfer drumsticks to a prepared baking sheet.
  • After baking the drumsticks in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, brush them with barbecue sauce, then return to the oven and bake for another 7 to 8 minutes. Flip the drumsticks, brush with more barbecue sauce, and bake for an additional 7 to 8 minutes.
  • Position an oven rack 6 inches below the broiler and preheat the broiler.
  • Coat drumsticks with extra barbeque sauce and broil for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip drumsticks, coat with more barbeque sauce, and continue broiling until chicken is fully cooked and juices run clear, about 3 to 4 minutes. Check with a meat thermometer for doneness, aiming for 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) near the bone.
