Overnight cinnamon rolls with creamy frosting, a sweet breakfast treat ready to bake in the morning!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups lukewarm water
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup shortening
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese frosting, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Create dough by mixing together water and yeast, allowing it to rest until the yeast has completely dissolved, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Combine sugar, shortening, salt, and yeast in a large bowl. Add the egg. Gradually mix in half of the flour, then continue with the rest until dough forms. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in the refrigerator for 8 hours to overnight.
  • Take the dough out of the refrigerator and roll it out on a lightly floured board. Spread softened butter over the dough, leaving a 1-inch strip along the long edge farthest from you dry.
  • Combine brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, and cloves in a bowl. Spread mixture over dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Roll up dough tightly towards the border, then cut into 1-inch thick rolls. Arrange rolls in a greased pan and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for a perfect bake.
  • Bake rolls in a preheated oven until beautifully golden for about 20 minutes. Top the warm rolls with a generous layer of creamy cream cheese frosting.
