Indulge in a festive overnight eggnog recipe, perfect for the holidays, with or without alcohol.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 12 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup cane sugar
  • 1 pint whipping cream
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • In a medium pot, bring milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and cloves to a gentle simmer over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally for 3 to 5 minutes until the spices infuse into the milk. Make sure to stir from the bottom to prevent burning.
  • Whisk together egg yolks and cane sugar in a large mixing bowl until the mixture is pale yellow, thick, and smooth.
  • Take the milk mixture off the stove. Gradually pour the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture while whisking briskly to prevent curdling. Keep pouring and whisking until it's all combined.
  • Transfer the mixture back to the pot and heat over medium heat. Continuously stir with a spatula until the eggnog thickens and turns light beige, approximately 5 minutes. The mixture should coat the spatula slightly. Take off the heat.
  • Combine whipping cream and nutmeg in a pitcher, then mix in the eggnog mixture with a spatula. Refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight for best flavor. Stir well before serving.
