Prep the night before for hassle-free brunch. Portable syrup included for on-the-go enjoyment with kids.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, sliced
  • 5 eggs
  • 1.5 cups milk
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan, simmer corn syrup, butter, and brown sugar until the sugar has melted. Pour the mixture over the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  • Lay the bread slices on top of the sugar-butter mixture in the dish. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt; then pour over the bread. Cover and chill in the refrigerator overnight.
  • The next morning, heat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • After 45 minutes, remove the cover and bake until golden. Enjoy immediately while hot or warm to prevent the French toast from becoming tough. Simply reheat if needed.
