Prepare delicious orange-vanilla buns by prepping dough the night before for a flavorful breakfast treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 vanilla bean, split, seeds scraped out and reserved, bean discarded
  • 1 cup pecan halves, toasted
  • 2 loaves (1 lb each) frozen white bread dough, thawed
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar until combined. Take off heat. Add honey, whipping cream, water, orange peel, orange juice, and vanilla bean seeds. Let cool for 30 minutes. Transfer the mixture to an ungreased 13x9x2-inch pan and top with pecan halves.
  • Roll out the dough into a 14x6 inch rectangle. Mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl. Spread half of the mixture over the dough. Roll the dough tightly and seal the seams. Cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces using a serrated knife. Place the rolls cut-side down in a pan. Repeat with the second loaf and the remaining sugar mixture. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Take out of the refrigerator and allow to rest for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden brown. Let cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then carefully invert onto a platter.
