Prepare overnight orange-infused French toast casserole for an effortless and delightful morning indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf challah bread, sliced 1/2-inch thick
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 quart half-and-half cream
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup granola cereal
  • 0.5 cup maple syrup
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter. Arrange bread slices in two layers in the dish. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half cream, orange juice, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth. Pour the mixture over the bread. Using a large spoon, press the bread down into the liquid to ensure each piece is soaked thoroughly.
  • Evenly scatter the granola on top of the casserole, then generously drizzle with maple syrup and melted butter. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator overnight.
  • One hour before serving, let the casserole come to room temperature by removing it from the refrigerator and discarding the plastic wrap. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake the casserole for 30 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake until browned, about 15 minutes. Serve warm.
