Decadent tres leches cake: moist sponge soaked in cream mixture, topped with fluffy whipped cream.
Ingredients:
  • 6 medium eggs, separated
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
Instructions:
  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) while preparing a 10x15-inch baking dish by greasing it.
  • Prepare the cake: In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Gradually mix in sugar until glossy. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Reduce speed to medium and slowly add flour. Incorporate milk, baking powder, and vanilla. Pour batter into the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, until lightly browned on top and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove and cool for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Prepare the tres leches by blending condensed milk, evaporated milk, and cream until smooth and creamy.
  • Drizzle the tres leches mixture over the cake, then cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until the cake is chilled and has soaked up all the liquid.
  • Slice the chilled cake into 12 squares, then add a generous dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of sliced strawberries to each serving.
