Delicious peach upside-down cake with caramelized peach halves, perfect for a summertime treat. Top with whipped cream for a decadent finish.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 5 fresh peaches - peeled, pitted and halved
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In an 8-inch square pan, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar and nutmeg, then arrange peach halves cut-side down in the pan.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 cup of white sugar until light and fluffy. Then, beat in the egg. Stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, alternating between the two, and beat well after each addition. Finally, spread the cake batter over the peaches.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top, for 35 to 40 minutes. Take the cake out of the oven and allow it to sit in the pan for 5 minutes, then flip it onto a serving platter.
