Peppermint chocolate hearts

Spread joy with these handmade peppermint heart treats.
Ingredients:
  • 375g dark chocolate melts
  • 4 drops peppermint essence
  • 185g white chocolate melts
  • Green food colouring
Instructions:
  • Prepare your 6cm-deep, 20cm square cake pan by lining the base and sides with baking paper. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt half of the dark chocolate by microwaving on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Mix in half of the essence. Spread this mixture over the base of the pan and gently tap on the counter to remove air bubbles. Chill in the refrigerator for 5 minutes until set.
  • Start by melting the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth, stirring every 30 seconds. Add green food coloring for a vibrant hue. Quickly spread the mixture in a pan, tap gently on the counter, then chill in the refrigerator for 5 minutes until firm.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the rest of the dark chocolate by microwaving on high for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir every 30 seconds with a metal spoon until smooth. Add the remaining peppermint essence and spread this mixture over the green layer in the pan. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes until set.
  • Cut heart-shaped chocolate pieces using a 4.5cm cutter and serve.
