Elevate your French toast with sweet challah, brown sugar, and aromatic pineapple sage leaves.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup 1% milk, divided
  • 0.25 cup fresh pineapple sage leaves
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 splash vanilla extract
  • 2 thick slices raisin challah bread
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Combine 1/4 cup of milk and fresh sage leaves in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute, then allow it to cool. Strain out the leaves, keeping the infused milk for your recipe.
  • Combine the rest of the milk, egg, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Slowly pour in the sage-infused milk while whisking until well combined.
  • Submerge challah bread slices in the egg mixture until fully soaked, approximately 2 minutes on each side.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, fry soaked bread slices in vegetable oil until golden and crispy, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
