"Serve up Pepperoni Stuffed Pretzel Bites made with Pillsbury™ pizza crust - a delicious addition to any bread basket."
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup finely shredded mozzarella cheese (2 oz)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pepperoni
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Coarse (kosher or sea) salt
  • Pizza sauce, as desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine Filling ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. Place cooking parchment paper on a large cookie sheet. Roll out dough into a 14x12-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Then, use a pizza cutter to slice the dough lengthwise into 4 strips.
  • Place a generous 1/4 cup of the filling onto one long edge of each dough strip. Gently stretch the dough over the filling, brush the edges with water, and press to seal. Lift up both ends of the filled dough, and carefully stretch to create a 24-inch rope.
  • Create a U shape with each dough rope, twist the ends twice, press down where they overlap to form an "X" to secure the shape, then fold the ends over to rest at the bottom of the U.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, heat 2 cups of water on High for about 2 minutes until hot. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Dip each pretzel into the water mixture one at a time. Using a large spatula, lift the pretzels out of the water and let them stand for about 5 minutes. In a small bowl, whisk together an egg and 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the pretzels with the egg mixture.
  • Arrange pretzels on a baking sheet and generously sprinkle with salt. Bake in the oven for 11 to 15 minutes or until the tops turn a rich golden brown. Enjoy the pretzels warm with some tasty pizza sauce on the side.
