Showstopping birthday party cake that will wow the kids and disappear in minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 25cm square banana cake (see Notes)
  • 40.00 ml green sprinkles
  • 20.00 ml chocolate sprinkles
  • 250g butter, cubed, at room temperature
  • 230g (1 1/2 cups) pure icing sugar, sifted
  • 250g dark chocolate, melted, cooled
Instructions:
  • Prepare the icing: In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer for 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Slowly mix in the icing sugar until pale and fluffy. Gently incorporate the dark chocolate until smooth and well combined.
  • Attach the fabric to the cake board using glue or tape for coverage. Cut a square of non-stick baking paper using the base of the cake pan as a guide.
  • Trim the top of the cake with a serrated knife to even the surface, then place a square of baking paper on top to protect the fabric. Finally, invert the cake onto a board.
  • Spread the icing smoothly over the cake using a spatula or flat knife, creating elegant swirls on top and ensuring the sides are perfectly covered.
  • Decorate the cake with green sprinkles around the base and a small area on top. Add a 4WD or train on top. Place a plane and a truck on the cake, filling the truck with chocolate sprinkles and sprinkling some around its base. Finally, place the candles in one designated spot on the cake.
  • 1. Apply double-sided tape along the center back of the grosgrain ribbon. Press a 4cm-wide strip of waxed paper onto the tape firmly. 2. Add double-sided tape to the back of the patterned ribbon and attach it onto the front of the grosgrain ribbon. 3. Gently wrap the ribbons around the cake and adjust as needed. 4. Trim the ends to connect at the back securely.
