Bake these fun playing card cookies using Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix for a perfect addition to your casino night!
Ingredients:
  • 2 pouches (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Flour, butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for cutout cookies
  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • Edible markers
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, butter, and egg in a large bowl and mix until well combined using an electric mixer on medium speed or a wooden spoon. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator until firm, for at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare cookie sheets with parchment paper. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut the dough into rectangles using a playing card as a template, then transfer them to the cookie sheets. Repeat the process with any remaining dough to make more rectangles.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until set, then transfer to a cooling rack. If using only one cookie sheet, let it cool for 10 minutes between batches. Allow the cookies to cool completely for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to beat meringue powder and cold water until peaks form. Gradually mix in powdered sugar until soft peaks form, for about 1 minute. Transfer one-third of the icing to a decorating bag fitted with a fine tip and pipe an outline of a playing card onto the cookies. Allow it to stand and harden for approximately 30 minutes.
  • Thin the remaining icing with water until it reaches a spreadable consistency. Spoon it onto each cookie, using the back of a spoon to evenly fill in the outlined space. Allow it to set and harden fully, typically around 30 minutes.
  • Decorate card details using colorful edible markers.
