Ingredients:
  • 165g (3/4 cup) caster sugar
  • 375mls (1 1/2 cups) water
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 medium pears (like williams or beurre bosc)
  • 4 medium golden delicious apples
  • 300g black muscat (muscat Hamburg) grapes, stems removed
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, mix together the sugar, water, orange juice, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil.
  • Peel and core the pears and apples, then cut them into lengthwise quarters.
  • Combine the pears and apples in the saucepan over low heat. Simmer uncovered for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is tender. (Refer to microwave tip if needed.)
  • Once you’ve taken the pan off the heat, let the fruit cool for one hour. Add in the grapes, then transfer the fruit and poaching syrup to a large serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Enjoy the dish at room temperature topped with maple syrup yogurt and nuts. Check out the related recipe for more ideas.
