Festive and stunning Christmas cookies sure to impress with beautiful blossoms.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 0.66666668653488 cup white sugar
  • 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup red decorator sugar
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 drop yellow food coloring
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare your baking sheets by lining them with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, and cream cheese until light and fluffy with an electric mixer. Mix in egg and vanilla until well combined. Stir in flour by hand with a sturdy spoon, adding red food coloring until the dough becomes a lovely red color.
  • Coat the balls generously with vibrant red decorator sugar and arrange them on the lined cookie sheets, keeping them 1 inch apart. Chill the cookies on the sheets until they are firm, approximately 10 minutes.
  • After the cookies have firmed up, carefully slice each cookie into 6 sections like a pie, cutting 2/3 of the way through each cookie ball.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until cookies are dry. Allow to cool on the sheets, then gently peel off the aluminum foil.
  • Prepare the icing by combining confectioners' sugar and water until it's piping consistency; add a drop of yellow food coloring. Transfer the icing to a pastry bag or resealable bag, then snip a small piece off the corner. Pipe small dots onto the cookie centers. Let the icing dry completely before storing the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
