Create a crowd-pleasing rice cereal dessert with marshmallows and chocolate candies.
Ingredients:
  • 1 plastic (3x2-inch) snap-apart Easter egg
  • 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 6 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 1 cup pastel candy-coated chocolate candies
  • 1 1/2 cups pink or yellow candy melts or coating wafers (9 oz)
Instructions:
  • Clean and thoroughly dry the interior of the plastic egg. Place waxed paper on a cookie sheet.
  • Microwave marshmallows and butter in a large microwavable bowl on High for 1 minute. Stir well. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Mix in cereal and chocolate candies until combined.
  • Quickly and carefully stuff each egg half with the cereal mixture, then gently press two halves together to form an egg shape. Transfer to a cookie sheet and continue with the remaining cereal mixture. Let cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Place candy melts in a small microwavable bowl and microwave on Medium (50%) for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Dip the bottom third of each egg treat into the melted candy, allowing excess to drip off. Return treats to the cookie sheet and allow them to set for around 5 minutes. Once set, store the treats covered at room temperature.
