French Potato and Apple Galette: A sophisticated side dish blending russet potatoes and apples for a delicious touch of elegance.
Ingredients:
  • 5 teaspoons butter, melted
  • 2 to 3 russet potatoes, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 1 large apple, peeled, thinly sliced
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 3 teaspoons finely chopped fresh sage leaves
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Drizzle 1 teaspoon of melted butter in a 10-inch ovenproof skillet. Layer half of the potato slices, slightly overlapping. Brush with 1 teaspoon of butter. Add all the apple slices. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of sage. Layer with the remaining potato slices. Drizzle the remaining 3 teaspoons of butter on top. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of sage.
  • Preheat skillet on stove over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Bake covered for 15 minutes. Then bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes more, or until potatoes are golden brown and crisp outside and tender inside.
  • Carefully use oven mitts to flip the skillet onto a serving plate. Cut into wedges before serving.
