Indulge in tangy sour cream pecan candies.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 24 pecan halves
Instructions:
  • Grease the inside of a 4-quart saucepan and line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  • Combine brown sugar, white sugar, baking soda, sour cream, and corn syrup in an oiled pan over low heat. Stir until sugars are dissolved. Use a pastry brush dipped in cold water to clean any sugar crystals above the liquid line. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Avoid stirring once it boils. Heat to 240 degrees F (115 degrees C) or until a small amount dropped into cold water forms a soft ball that flattens when placed on a flat surface. Remove from heat and mix in butter, vanilla, and chopped pecans.
  • Scoop mixture onto baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Top each praline with a pecan half. Let cool completely and store in a cool, airtight container.
