Spicy chili with hot Italian sausage, beef, and pinto beans.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 pound hot Italian sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans pinto beans, undrained
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
Instructions:
  • In a large stock pot, warm olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and jalapeno pepper until onion turns translucent, approximately 10 minutes. Add sausage and ground beef, and cook until meat browns and crumbles, about 7 minutes. Remove and discard excess grease.
  • Season the meat mixture with a flavorful blend of chili powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix in pinto beans, tomatoes, and water, then bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 1 hour.
