Provolone-Smothered Chicken

Create flavorful basil and tomato marinated chicken breasts on a contact grill. Enjoy alone or on toasted French bread slices.
Ingredients:
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (about 1 1/4 lb)
  • 1/2 cup zesty Italian dressing
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper blend
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 4 thin slices tomato
  • 4 slices (1/2 to 3/4 oz each) provolone cheese
Instructions:
  • Marinate chicken in dressing in a shallow dish, covered, in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat a medium-size contact grill for 5 minutes. Take the chicken out of the marinade and set the marinade aside. Season the chicken with garlic pepper. Place the chicken on the grill and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, brushing with the reserved marinade once, until the chicken is cooked through. Discard any leftover marinade.
  • Season each chicken breast with fragrant basil, layer with juicy tomatoes and gooey cheese. Grill until the cheese is perfectly melted, about 3 to 5 minutes.
