Indulge in a delightful surprise with creamy orange cream cheese filling in this spiced pumpkin bread.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1.6660000085831 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a comforting 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and gently grease two 8x4 inch loaf pans.
  • Mix cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp flour, 1 egg, and orange zest in a medium bowl until smooth. In another bowl, sift together 1 2/3 cups flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine pumpkin, vegetable oil, 2 eggs, and 1 1/2 cups of sugar; mix thoroughly. Gently fold the pumpkin mixture into the flour mixture until just combined. Optional: add pecans and gently mix. Pour half of the pumpkin batter into the loaf pans, layer with spoonfuls of cream cheese mixture, then top with the remaining batter.
  • Bake for 60 to 70 minutes in a preheated oven until a toothpick comes out clean. Let bread cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
