"My delicious homemade flatbread pizza is a hit with my family."
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup olive oil, or as needed
  • 2 pounds onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 0.5 pound bacon
  • 10 pieces lavash or other flatbread
  • 5 cups pumpkin hummus
  • 3 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and cut into matchsticks
  • 5 cups shredded fontina cheese
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, gently caramelize the onions in olive oil until soft and golden brown, about 20 minutes. Stir in brown sugar and cook until onions turn deep brown, about 10 minutes. Add balsamic vinegar and simmer until it reduces to a syrupy consistency.
  • In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until crisp and evenly browned, turning occasionally for about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate, crumble it, and set aside.
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Spread each lavash with a generous amount of pumpkin hummus, then place on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with a layer of caramelized onions, top with apple slices, crispy bacon, and finish with a generous sprinkle of fontina cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the pizza is hot, the cheese is bubbly, and golden brown, around 10 minutes.
