Vibrant purple sweet potato buns made with wholesome whole wheat flour, creating a fun and delicious treat that the entire family will enjoy.
Ingredients:
  • 2.25 cups bread flour
  • 1.5 cups cooked and mashed purple sweet potatoes
  • 0.75 cup whole wheat flour
  • 0.75 cup cake flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup water, or more as needed
  • 5.5 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons milk powder
  • 2.5 teaspoons instant dry yeast
Instructions:
  • Combine bread flour, sweet potatoes, whole wheat flour, cake flour, eggs, brown sugar, water, butter, milk powder, yeast, and salt in a bowl until the dough comes together, adding water as needed. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic for 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Transfer the dough to a bowl coated with oil, cover it with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and allow it to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • After deflating the dough, shape it into 16 balls. Arrange the balls on oiled baking sheets, then cover and allow them to rise until doubled in size, approximately 40 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and uncover the dough.
  • Bake until the top is beautifully golden brown in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
