Quick and delicious Bolognese Sauce - perfect for pasta or lasagna. Ready in just 35 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 large yellow onion, cut into 2-inch chunks
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and thickly sliced
  • 1 large stalk celery, thickly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1 (28-ounce) can whole San Marzano or other good quality tomatoes with thick juice
  • 12 ounces cooked pasta (for serving)
Instructions:
  • Finely chop the onion, carrot, and celery in a food processor until well minced.
  • Saute the vegetables in a wide skillet over medium heat. Melt butter, then add onions, carrots, and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes until vegetables are softened and translucent without browning.
  • Sear the beef: Combine ground beef with sautéed vegetables in the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Use a fork or potato masher to break up the meat, cooking over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes until crumbly and no longer pink, ensuring it is cooked through without browning.
  • Combine the meat and milk in a skillet and simmer until the milk is nearly evaporated, approximately 4 minutes. Mix in the nutmeg for a flavorful touch.
  • Pour in the wine: Pour the wine into the skillet and let it simmer for approximately 5 minutes, allowing it to nearly evaporate.
  • Crush the tomatoes in a bowl to break them up into small pieces. Transfer them to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook on low for 15 to 20 minutes until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons hot water if needed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the sauce generously over a bed of perfectly cooked pasta. If you enjoyed this dish, please consider leaving us a review and rating below!
