Create a show-stopping Rainbow Surprise Inside Cake with a colorful and sweet surprise that spills out when sliced. Perfect for birthdays, holidays, and celebrations, customize the candy filling to match any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix boxes
  • 2 tubs (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Vanilla Frosting
  • 2 cups M&M's® candy-coated milk chocolate candies
  • 1 cup M&M's® minis candy-coated milk chocolate candies
  • 3/4 cup from 1 container Betty Crocker™ Parlor Perfect Ice Cream Topping Confetti Sprinkles
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and prep 2 (8-inch) round cake pans with parchment paper. Prepare 1 box of cake mix according to package instructions. Divide batter between pans and bake as directed. Let cakes cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely for about 1 hour. Repeat the process with the second box of cake mix to make 2 more layers.
  • Flatten cake layers by trimming off the rounded tops. Then, in 2 layers, use a 4-inch round cutter to cut small rounds out of the center.
  • For cake assembly, start with one whole cake layer on a cake stand or serving platter. Spread 1/3 cup of frosting on top. Add a layer with the center removed and spread 1/3 cup of frosting on top. Finish with the final layer with the center removed and spread the last 1/3 cup of frosting on top.
  • Combine chocolate candies and sprinkles in a small bowl. Fill the cake with the candy mixture, gently pressing to even out, then place the top layer of the cake. Frost the sides and top of the cake with the remaining frosting. Store the cake loosely covered at room temperature.
