Indulge in classic Hungarian goulash with tender beef, onions, and rich Hungarian paprika, served with crusty bread.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons lard
  • 2 large onions, finely sliced
  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
  • 1 cup water, or as needed
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Heat lard in a large pot over medium heat until melted. Sauté onions in the hot lard until soft and translucent, about 5 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Mix the beef and paprika into the onions until well combined. Lower the heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Pour in 1 cup of water and continue to simmer, adding more water as needed until the meat is tender and the sauce is thick, approximately 1 more hour. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
