Decadent red velvet brownies with a swirl of creamy cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), then spread 1 teaspoon of butter in an 8x8 baking dish to coat it.
  • Combine 1 cup sugar and melted butter in a bowl, whisking until smooth. Stir in vanilla, cocoa powder, salt, food coloring, vinegar, and eggs one by one, making sure to mix thoroughly after each addition.
  • Combine flour with sugar mixture, gently mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, setting aside 1/3 cup for the cream cheese layer.
  • Combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread this mixture over the brownie batter in the baking dish. Drizzle 1/3 cup of the brownie batter in two rows over the cream cheese layer. Using a knife, swirl the batter rows into the cream cheese layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely before slicing.
