Slow-cooked refried beans infused with garlic, jalapeño, and cumin until irresistibly creamy and flavorful.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups dry pinto beans, rinsed
  • 1 onion, peeled and halved
  • 0.5 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 5 teaspoons salt
  • 1.75 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cumin, optional
  • 9 cups water
Instructions:
  • Prepare all your ingredients, ready to create a masterpiece!
  • In a slow cooker, combine beans, onion, jalapeño, garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, and water. Mix well.
  • Slow cook on High until the beans are extremely tender for about 8 hours, adding extra water as necessary.
  • Separate the beans from the liquid and keep the cooking liquid aside.
  • Place beans in a spacious shallow bowl. Mash the beans using a potato masher, adding the reserved cooking liquid gradually until you achieve the desired consistency.
