Delicious homemade bread and butter pickles, packed with tangy, sweet, and crunchy flavors. Just be patient for two weeks before savoring them!
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups distilled white vinegar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.33333298563957 cup coarse salt
  • 6 small onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 6 cucumbers, sliced
Instructions:
  • Check four quart-sized jars for any cracks and rust on the rings. Discard any damaged jars. Place the jars in simmering water for at least 5 minutes. Clean new lids and rings by washing them in warm soapy water.
  • In a saucepan, heat vinegar, sugar, and salt until boiling. In a large pan, mix onions, mustard seed, celery seed, and turmeric.
  • - Pour the hot vinegar mixture over the onions, then add the cucumber slices. Fill the hot, sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch space from the top. Remove air bubbles by running a clean knife or spatula around the jars. Wipe the rims with a damp paper towel to clean any residue. Seal tightly with lids and rings. Refrigerate for two weeks before enjoying.
