Sage-infused turkey ready in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 12- to 14-lb turkey, thawed if frozen
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • Fresh sage and small apples, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Secure the turkey's neck skin to its back with a skewer and fold the wings across the back, so the tips touch. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, except for water, fresh sage, and apples.
  • Place the turkey on a rack in a shallow roasting pan with the breast side up. Brush the turkey with the butter mixture, insert an ovenproof meat thermometer into the thickest part of the inside thigh (avoiding the bone), and add water to the roasting pan.
  • Loosely cover the turkey with foil or a roaster cover and roast for 3 hours. Uncover and continue roasting for 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes more. The turkey is ready when the thermometer reads 165°F and the drumsticks move easily when lifted or twisted. Transfer the turkey to a warm platter and cover with foil to keep it warm. Let it rest for 15 minutes before carving for best results. Garnish with sage and apples before serving.
