Make a tasty winter crumble using canned fruit for a quick and easy treat.
Ingredients:
  • 126.25 gm pure cream
  • 90.00 gm brown sugar
  • 85g butter, chopped
  • 2.40 gm sea salt
  • 2 x 770g cans sliced apple
  • Vanilla ice-cream, to serve
  • 59.40 gm brown sugar
  • 175.00 gm rolled oats
  • 50g butter, chilled, chopped
  • 32.50 gm shredded coconut
  • 187.50 ml pecans, chopped (see note)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan-forced. Combine cream, sugar, and butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally for 5 minutes until smooth and simmering, then simmer for an additional 2 minutes. Mix in salt and add the apple, gently tossing to combine. Transfer the mixture to a deep 20cm-square (10 cup-capacity) baking dish.
  • Prepare the crumble by combining brown sugar and oats in a bowl. Use your fingers to mix in the butter until fully incorporated. Then, add coconut and pecans, mixing everything together thoroughly. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
  • Bake until the crumble turns golden, typically around 25 minutes. Enjoy your crumble with a scoop of ice-cream.
