Indulgent salted dulce de leche swirl brownies: rich and decadent chocolate delight.
Ingredients:
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
  • 6 oz dark baking chocolate, chopped
  • Coarse sea salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Pour sweetened condensed milk into a 9-inch glass pie plate and cover with foil. Place pie plate in a larger shallow pan with sides and carefully place it in the oven. Fill the larger pan with hot water so it nearly reaches the top. Bake for 1 1/2 hours until thick and caramel colored. Allow it to cool completely for about 1 hour. Stir in table salt and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease a 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray and line it with cooking parchment paper.
  • Follow the brownie mix instructions on the box using water, oil, and eggs. Spread half of the brownie batter in a pan. Add one-third of the salted dulce de leche on top. Use a butter knife to swirl the dulce de leche into the batter. Carefully spread the remaining brownie batter on top and add the remaining two-thirds of the salted dulce de leche. Swirl it into the batter.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out almost clean with a few moist crumbs. Allow it to cool completely.
  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt dark chocolate in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  • Cut the brownies into bite-sized squares. Drizzle with melted dark chocolate and sprinkle with a generous amount of sea salt. Chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens, approximately 15 minutes.
