Crunchy nut cookies with a twist - made with breakfast cereal!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup Wheaties™ cereal
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, shortening, vanilla, and eggs. Mix in flour, oats, baking powder, and baking soda. Fold in cereal and peanuts.
  • Roll the dough into rounded teaspoon-sized balls and space them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Use the bottom of a greased glass dipped in sugar to gently flatten each ball slightly.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until firm. Allow to cool for 1 minute, then transfer to a wire rack.
