Slowly oven-baked Italian beef for ultimate tenderness and flavor on Italian night.
Ingredients:
  • 1 boneless beef round steak, 3/4 thick (1 1/2 lb)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 jar (14 oz) fat-free tomato pasta sauce (any variety)
  • 2 cups frozen cut green beans
  • 1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Trim fat from beef, then coat both sides with a mixture of flour and pepper. Cut the beef into 6 serving pieces.
  • Heat oil in a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef for about 5 minutes, flipping once. Transfer the beef to an 11x7-inch (2-qt) glass baking dish and pour spaghetti sauce over it. Cover tightly with foil.
  • After baking for about 1 hour, arrange green beans around the beef, then cover and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the beef reaches your preferred level of doneness. Finish by sprinkling olives on top.
