Delicious on-the-go breakfast pastries with sausage, egg, and cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 8 oz. smoked sausage, sliced into 12 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 17.3 oz. pkg. Puff pastry
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Preheat skillet over medium-high heat. Cook sausage pieces until golden brown and fully heated per package instructions, approximately 3 minutes. Set aside while preparing the eggs.
  • Whisk 4 eggs in a medium bowl with water, salt, and pepper until well combined. Melt butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add eggs and cook, stirring frequently, until softly scrambled and barely set, making them creamy.
  • Lay out 1 pastry sheet on a floured surface and give it a gentle roll. Spoon 1 tablespoon of scrambled eggs onto the sheet in 3 rows of 4 portions. Sprinkle cheese over the eggs and add a sausage piece on each. Lightly dampen edges and spaces between each row with water.
  • Roll out the second pastry sheet slightly larger than the first one and gently lay it on top. Press the pastry down to seal over each sausage and egg portion, then cut into squares using a pizza cutter or knife. Press the edges of each square to ensure they are sealed, then place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Lightly beat the remaining egg, brush each square with the egg wash, and evenly sprinkle with bagel seasoning.
  • Bake in the hot oven until beautifully puffed and golden brown, about 15 to 18 minutes.
