Delicious winter stew recipe that can also be made with lamb chops.
Ingredients:
  • 1kg Desiree potatoes, peeled, roughly chopped
  • 40g butter, chopped
  • 1 brown onion, sliced
  • 750g pork or beef chipolata sausages
  • 65.00 gm tomato sauce
  • 70.63 gm barbecue sauce
  • 24.40 gm worcestershire sauce
  • 35g packet French onion soup mix
  • 20.00 ml plain flour
  • 125.00 ml grated tasty cheese
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, cover potatoes with cold water and bring to a boil over high heat. Simmer on medium-low for 20 to 25 minutes until tender. Drain, then return to the pan. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper, and mash until smooth.
  • Start by preheating your oven to 200°C. In a deep frying pan over medium heat, warm the oil before adding the onion. Sauté the onion for about 3 minutes until it becomes tender. Proceed by adding the sausages and cook them for approximately 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are nicely browned. Whisk together tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soupmix, flour, and 3/4 cup of water in a jug. Pour this mixture into the pan with the sausages and bring it to a boil.
  • Transfer the sausage mixture into an 8-cup casserole dish, top it with potatoes, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese is golden. Serve hot.
