Hearty chili and cornbread bake combines classic flavors in one delicious dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 small onion, chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ kidney beans, undrained
  • 2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 10-inch skillet with cooking spray and warm over medium-high heat. Sauté sausage and onion for 4 to 5 minutes until onion is tender. Transfer to an ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish. Mix in garlic salt, chili powder, tomatoes, and beans.
  • Stir the remaining ingredients in a medium bowl until well combined, then pour over the sausage mixture.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the crust turns a beautiful light golden brown.
