Sautéed apples, onions, and fennel create a delicious side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound fennel, trimmed and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 0.125 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced with peel
  • freshly ground black pepper and fennel fronds
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sizzle the fennel, onion, and fennel seeds in oil until fragrant. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cook fennel until just tender and starting to brown, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes. Add apple and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with more black pepper and fennel fronds if desired before serving.
